Hello! We are thrilled to have you here at The Adorned Life and to learn more of your story! Tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to start your business and creative journey.  

Thank you for having me! My name is Carlista Moorehead, and my journey has been one of resilience, faith, and passion. I was born in Chicago but spent much of my life in Yazoo City, Mississippi. My entrepreneurial spirit was shaped early on by watching my parents run their own business, but life took some difficult turns—family struggles, personal hardships, and the loss of my mother. Through it all, I found healing and purpose in helping others, whether through my work in nutrition, my natural soap business, or community initiatives. I started my business, Soft Water Soap and Solutions, because I saw the need for high-quality, natural skincare that nourishes the body, just as my background in nutrition taught me to nourish from within.  

As you know, we are huge fans of your work! But for our readers who aren’t familiar, let’s talk more about your business and/or offerings!

Soft Water Soap and Solutions is my labor of love! I handcraft natural soaps, including turmeric and black seed bars, shea butter goat’s milk soap, and luxurious liquid soaps enriched with emollient moisturizers. My brand isn’t just about skincare—it’s about holistic wellness. Under the “Solutions” part of my business, I’m expanding into vitamins and minerals to help people care for themselves from the inside out. My goal is to create products that are not only effective but also beautiful, indulgent, and unique—things you won’t find in a big-box store.  

Wow! I love that!! So, how has your faith influenced your work and the way you serve others through your gifts?  

Faith has been the foundation of everything I do. I’ve been through challenges that could have broken me, but God carried me through. My work is an extension of that faith—I believe in healing, in restoration, and in serving others with integrity. Whether I’m crafting soaps or helping organize community initiatives, I see it all as a ministry of love and service.  

What challenges have you faced as an entrepreneur/creative, and what has the process of navigating through them looked like for you?  

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart! One of my biggest challenges has been balancing multiple responsibilities—running a business, raising my children, and working on community projects. Financial obstacles and learning curves have also tested me, especially when expanding into new areas. But each challenge has strengthened my resolve. I’ve learned to trust the process, lean on my faith, and stay focused on my purpose. Surrounding myself with supportive people and always seeking knowledge have been key to navigating the ups and downs.  

What sets your work apart, and what do you hope people take away from what you create or offer?  

What sets my work apart is the personal touch. Every bar of soap, every product I create, is made with intention, using high-quality ingredients that truly benefit the skin. My experience in nutrition gives me an edge—I understand how the body works and what it needs, both internally and externally. More than anything, I want people to feel good when they use my products. I want them to experience self-care as something sacred, something that nourishes their body, mind, and spirit.  

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey so far?  

The most rewarding part has been seeing the impact—whether it’s customers sharing how my products have improved their skin or people in my community finding support through initiatives I help with. Knowing that I’m making a difference, even in small ways, keeps me going.  

What scripture or faith principle has guided you the most in your business or creative path?  

Proverbs 31 has been a guiding scripture for me. It speaks of a woman who is strong, resourceful, and hardworking—caring for her family and community while also building something of value. That’s the kind of woman I strive to be—faithful, diligent, and using my gifts to serve others.  

How does your business or creative work reflect your passion and purpose, and what impact do you hope to make through it?  

My business is a direct reflection of my passion for health, wellness, and empowerment. Whether it’s through skincare or encouraging others in their journeys, I want to inspire people to take care of themselves, believe in their own resilience, and embrace their natural beauty. My goal is to create products that people love while also fostering a sense of self-care and confidence.
